BIOGRAPHY
Sheldon Lettich has a knack for being able to work with, as well as discover, action heroes for the movies. It's a talent which has helped him build a long and illustrious career in the motion picture industry. He wrote the screenplay for the now-classic martial arts film, Bloodsport, which launched the career of Jean-Claude Van Damme. The new international action star returned the favor by helping to launch Lettich's directing career with the film, Lionheart (1990), followed by Double Impact (1991), both of which starred Van Damme. Lettich's next discovery was Mark Dacascos, who debuted in Only The Strong, a film that introduced the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira to international audiences. He has also directed Daniel Bernhardt in Perfect Target, and Dolph Lundgren in The Last Patrol. Other high-profile action stars Lettich has worked with include Sylvester Stallone, with whom he co-wrote the screenplay for Rambo III (1988), and Chuck Norris, who hired him to re-write Delta Force II. He was also a writer/producer on the French Foreign Legion film, Legionnaire (1998), starring Van Damme and shot on location in Morocco. His latest directorial effort, The Order (2001), an action film starring Van Damme and Charlton Heston, was shot on location in Israel. Prior to his motion picture career, Lettich co-wrote the renowned Vietnam Veterans play, Trscers. First performed at the Odyssey Theater in Los Angeles, the play then traveled to Joseph Papp's Public Theater in New York City, the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago (directed by Gary Sinise), and numerous venues worldwide. It received both Drama Desk Awards and L.A. Drama Critics Awards, and is still being performed throughout the world. mini-biography by Sheldon Lettich
